What you need to start playing

To start in Warhammer 40k you need to gather :

One or more other players

Warhammer being a multiplayer battle game, you won’t be able to play solo. It is imperative that you find at least one or more other players to form armies opposed to your own.

A playing surface

You will then have to find a suitable playing field as a battlefield: a table or a flat surface (floor) that you can work on at your convenience. Please note that more improved scenery is available for purchase in online shops.

Miniatures and game material

The most important thing is to have well-assembled and painted miniatures, ready for the battlefield. Of course, after choosing your side between Chaos (4 factions including the famous Death Guard), Imperium (14 factions including the Imperial Space Marines) or Xenos (10 factions where the OrKs are found). For this purpose, Games Workshop has designed several boxes of miniatures for each faction that you can buy to build an army to start your game, there are of course basic boxes with everything you need or Warhammer easy to build miniatures.

Last but not least, you’ll also need the game material:

  • 6-sided dice for game rounds
  • Small rules for measuring movement.
